At Marlborough Tiles, we have long believed that a home should be as individual as the people who live in it. Our newest collection, Cornish Delft, continues this tradition while paying homage to Cornwall’s rich heritage and striking coastal beauty.

A Love Letter to Cornwall

The Cornish Delft collection is inspired by the timeless charm of Delft tiles, reinterpreted with a distinctly Cornish spirit. The collection features nine beautifully hand painted designs, each telling a story of life by the sea. From the silhouettes of tin mines standing against the sky to the rhythmic movements of fishermen at work, these tiles capture the essence of a region shaped by the ocean.

Drawing from our own archives, we have revived original watercolour sketches dating back to 1935, bringing them to life in classic Delft blue on our rustic biscuit tile. Among the scenes depicted, you’ll find a watchful gull surveying the shore and a fisherman absorbed in his craft, each tile a testament to Cornwall’s enduring beauty and the hands that shape its history.

Craftsmanship in Every Detail

Each tile in the Cornish Delft collection measures 11x11cm and is crafted by hand using traditional techniques. Formed from the finest Spanish terracotta, the rustic biscuit base provides an organic finish, rich with character and natural imperfections. The tiles are completed with a beautiful gloss crackle glaze, enhancing their depth and timeless appeal.

This hand painted Cornish Delft wall tile is available on two distinct background shades: Antique White, a subtle off-white that exudes warmth and heritage, or Chalk White, a brighter option that enhances vibrance and contrast.
