Inspiration
We recently had the pleasure of chatting with one of our lovely customers, Callieanne Major, who turned her bedroom into a true sanctuary, full of character, charm, and warmth. Her design style blends traditional romantic elements with soft, muted colours, creating a space that feels both timeless and inviting. If you’re a fan of classic beauty and subtle sophistication, you’ll love the journey of this dreamy bedroom renovation, complete with our hand painted Delft tiles.
A Home That Tells a Story
When it comes to design, Callieanne is all about creating a home that feels both beautiful and personal. "I adore traditional romantic styling," Callieanne shares, "and I love the use of patterns and flowers to create a beautiful home." Callieanne’s colour palette is filled with soft, pastel shades — think dusty pinks, pale greens, and muted blues. It’s a soothing, calming vibe that she’s carried throughout her home, giving every room its own unique, but cohesive feel.
A Bedroom Transformation: From Carpet to Character
The bedroom was the next big project, and the first step was a game-changer. "The first thing I wanted to do was get rid of the carpet," Callieanne explains. "I’m so glad I did because it revealed the most beautiful original floorboards." With a bit of sanding and a finishing touch of clear wax, those floorboards truly came to life, giving the room an instant lift.
But the floor wasn’t the only place she wanted to make a statement. The walls needed some love too. She worked with the talented team at Belarte Studio to choose a gorgeous striped wallpaper, which paired perfectly with the soft, neutral ‘Mink’ wall paint from Paint & Paper Library. The combination brought the room to life, but it wasn’t until she turned her attention to the fireplace that the scheme found its finishing touch.
The Power of Statement Tiles
This is where Marlborough Tiles came in. Inspired by the beautiful home designs of another one of our customers, Nicola Huthwaite, on Instagram, Callieanne knew she wanted to incorporate Delft tiles into her bedroom design. "I’ve always wanted to use Delft tiles somewhere in my home," Callieanne says. "Not only are they traditional, but they are a work of art. I love the fact that each tile is hand painted, which really tells a story."
Callieanne chose our 13cm x 13cm Classic Delft tiles for their timeless and understated beauty. "They really create an impact in the room," she adds. And it’s easy to see why — these tiles bring a subtle sense of history, especially around a fireplace where they would have traditionally been used.
Renovation Advice: Create a Home That Makes You Smile
Renovating a home can be a big undertaking, and Callieanne has a bit of advice for anyone looking to start their own project. "I would definitely say live in your home for a few months before starting any projects. This helps you get a feel for your space and what you truly want and need." And when it comes to design, she believes in the power of planning. "Creating moodboards is a must! It helps bring your vision to life and gives you a clear direction for your project." But perhaps the best advice she gives is this: "Your home doesn’t have to be perfect. As long as it makes you smile, then that’s all that matters."
Whether you're dreaming of a bedroom makeover or a more extensive home renovation, there’s something so special about bringing your design vision to life. Callieanne’s project is a beautiful reminder that the right design choices can create a space that feels both personal and timeless. So, why not embrace your own style, add a few statement pieces, and create a home that fills you with joy every day?
