When expert kitchen designers and manufacturers Weir & Webb were seeking the perfect white tile for one of their latest projects, they knew just where to come. Known for crafting beautifully bespoke spaces that balance practicality and timeless style, and with a dedication to fine craftsmanship, Weir & Webb create kitchens that are as functional as they are elegant, just like our tiles. Read on to see how they used Marlborough Tiles for this charming country kitchen.
At Marlborough Tiles, we take great pride in creating handcrafted tiles that bring character and charm to homes. So, when Weir & Webb chose our Posterity Icing on the Cake tiles to complete a beautiful Cavendish kitchen, we knew they would be the perfect fit.
Nestled in the heart of the Suffolk countryside, the kitchen was designed to be both practical and visually stunning - ideal for an avid baker. Originally two separate rooms, the space has been transformed by Weir & Webb into a seamless open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area. Every detail has been thoughtfully considered, from the large island designed for food preparation to the double farmhouse sink and double-door pantry cabinet.
For the kitchen’s finishing touch, the team selected our Icing on the Cake metro tiles—a choice that perfectly complements the warm and inviting atmosphere of the space. Their creamy crackle glaze reflects a soft light around the room, while their handcrafted nature brings a timeless, artisanal quality that pairs beautifully with the Cavendish cabinetry.
"We designed our Posterity metro tiles in a range of soft neutral tones with a delicate, glossy finish that reflects light beautifully - ideal for creating a bright, airy feel in any kitchen," says Marlborough's product development manager, Anita Rivers. "For a passionate baker like the client, they add just the right amount of warmth and character, making the space feel as special as the creations made within it."
As with any open-plan space, layout and proportion were key considerations for the team at Weir & Webb. The central kitchen island, measuring 2.80 x 1.31m, provides ample workspace while maintaining a harmonious flow with the adjacent living area. Clever details, such as hidden cupboards disguised as V-Groove End Panels, ensure that functionality is never compromised.
With a design that seamlessly balances form and function, this kitchen is a true reflection of the client's passion for baking - and we’re delighted that our handcrafted wall tiles could play a part in bringing their vision to life.
