At Marlborough we talk a lot about timeless design, and our Soho Collection of hand crafted wall tiles captures this exactly.
If you look closely at our Soho tiles, you'll notice that their stunning depth of colour comes from the subtle yellow undertones lurking beneath the vibrant blues and greens. To achieve this, we have drawn upon traditional techniques first used by the Victorians, such as adding cobalt and copper oxides into the glaze. When fired these oxides add another dimension to the colour by refracting light of a different frequency to the pigment. Many modern tile producers shy away from using these techniques because of their complexity in production. But to us, the gorgeous depth of colour that results is worth it. Available in a medium brick tile 15 x 7.5 cm and scallop tile 17 x 15.5 cm.
